Wildflower Walk

Glen and Alison organised our Wildflower Walk for the 26th April at 2pm from the lower car park at One Tree Hill. Previously it used to be called the Bluebell Walk but this time it was felt that due to the many wild flowers this time of year we could expand it to a Wildflower Walk.   It turned out to be a gorgeous day with a really good turnout (14).   The sun shone all day whilst we all moved through Hall Wood experiencing wild orchids and the beautiful bluebells. Many other species were identified including plants growing which were indicators of ancient forests.  Amongst other things spotted was a black fungus called Daldinia concentrica because when cut in half it shows similar rings as found in tree slice and a tree hole that has been taken over for a bees nest. A great day in the open fields and woods.
