More than twenty people came along to our New Year’s Day walk, and for some it was their first visit to Marks Hill wood. The keen walkers spent time looking at the amazing amount of work carried out twice-weekly by the Society’s volunteers at the south end of the reserve.
The dense area of young sycamore trees has been cleared to allow other tree species to flourish and a protective dead hedge has been built to protect young seedlings. In Norview Crescent primrose leaves had already emerged, and in a few months time will be in full flower creating a wonderful yellow carpet.
There will be more organised walks in Marks Hill wood in the coming year. The events timetable for 2019 is now available online.
